Music Production and VST/VSTi software

I thought we had one of these threads already, but I've hunted high and low, can't find one.

Might I suggest that, unlike all the other freeware/software threads with hundreds of links, many which don't work or are not that hot, let's stick to ones we know and can recommend from personal experience.

Plenty of musical related software, including many VSTs and VSTis. It's easy to see what is free/share/sale in the lists here:
Music Software - Shareware Music Machine

These VSTs are all shareware, (will nag you to register), but free. Here you will find one of the rare, free, multi-channel compressors (GVSTMulti):
GVST

This site reviews what's on offer and gives screenshots for everything. Nice and easy to browse then, and they're all freeware:
VSTPLANET - VST Plugins Free - Virtual instruments and effects

And this place offers classy software, nice design, many free too:
Voxengo

No list of audio software would be complete without Audacity. THE free Audio record/edit package:
Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder

Enjoy
