| Dirty Chunky Housey | How does your main PC connect to the net?? If it uses a usb modem then just a cross over cable from one PC to the other..... If it uses ethernet to connec then just get an additional cheap Network card and use a crossover cable... Max cost £20 all in but prob much less if you buy off the net......

| Frequency Specialist | Crossover cable would be easiest probably. Make sure it's a crossovecable though, not a regular one otherwise it won't work.

| Foolish Earthmong | If you're already using ethernet, then your broadband router might already have a spare LAN port. Plug the PC into that (and for this, you don't use a crossover cable. Unless your router can handle a crossover cable, in which case you can use one. Most ethernet cables you see in a shop won't be). Do it this way and your first PC doesn't need to be switched on for the second one to have Internet access. Possible complications: - Are both PCs in the same room? If not, things get more difficult. You could use your mains supply as a network solution, or drill holes in your house to route cables, or just have a cable draped across the floor, waiting to trip you up. - Does the second PC have an ethernet port? If not, as has been mentioned, you'll need to get one. I don't think it's possible to buy a PC with no ethernet port these days, unless it's an Apple Air ![]() - Errr, I can't think of any other complications right now.
