| Moooonged Out | fixing laptop psu any ideas on how I do that? I'm guessing the psu fried due to a glass of champagne over it, hope it's not the motherboard. When I run from AC I don't even get an led flash to say the battery is charging. Anywhere sell power supplies? Are they specific for each laptop? Or shall I get the multimeter out and start testing capacitors and shit? (I do know what I'm doing there) |

| Get monged out with mong | I dunno what to say to help ya stabby. Unfortunately if you use your gear at gigs you have to guard it ALL the time. If you go to the loo you get someone else to guard it.

| Experimenting | Psu's in laptop's are external, except the DC socket (connecting to the motherboard). Almost certainly something has shorted out somewhere meaning a motherboard is required. We normally write off any laptop with liquid damage unless its water. Depending on make and model of laptop a new motherboard can be £100-£300 Next time get one of these Panasonic Toughbooks - Homepage ![]() hi btw |

| Moooonged Out | hi mate, yeah I just thought of that, the psu is external. It still doesn't work btw, I'm gonna open it up later and look for any fuses, failing that I'll be hitting ebay. The laptop was always underspecced really for djing and only a 20g hard drive so I'm not losing much. |

Just out of interest does the light come on at all when the AC adapter is connected ? with or without the bat in ? If you look on the bottom plate of the laptop or the AC adapapter it will tell you what you need to replace it with usually 19-20v @ 3.42a. | |
