external hard drive

its weird...i got a case for my spare 2.5" drive, when i plug it in it recognizes, but apparently theres no disk...
there is a disk, and the disk works, its connected properly... any idea what mite be wrong =S

i dont want to fork out for another case just yet

does the drive spin up when you plug it in?

has it got a partition? and formatted for o/s correctly?

try checking in admin-tools/computer managment/storage to see if the disk is there, might be a drive letter conflict.

doesnt spin
disk management shows the drive but with "no media"

if it doesn't spin up then it probably isn't getting any power. If everything is plugged in correctly then send the casing back. test it with another drive if you've got one. i would say somethings faulty.
