Computer goes BEEP

or BOOP, more like a BOOP.

Since I upgraded my ram whenever I get a pop up box for YES/NO or a pm from here, or a SAVE AS box pop up the bloody computer goes BOOP from the internal speaker and out the soundcard into the mixer.

I want to turn it off, sofort.

Tried 'Control Panel->Sounds'? I can't imagine why your RAM has anything to do with it, though.

tried that, it's none of those sounds. If you sit on your keyboard I'm sure your pc will make the same BOOP.

Probably Windoze has done some freelance reconfiguration. Weird. If it's not buggered with your sound settings, maybe the process has screwed with your sound driver? Maybe a re-install of the driver would help?

control panel > sounds and audio devices > properties > sounds tab

check the list and see if anything in there links to the action you do on the PC when the boop happens.
You can then unassign each sound for each action. My Pc at my old work used to do this. Everytime I'd get a pop up asking for a yes/no, or needed some sort of a reponse to continue it used to do it. Darned annoying when you are deleting 200 rows from a database. Peopl ein the office would know the task I was doing cause every four key strokes would be followed by a BOOP. It comes from the main box rather than through the speakers.

Have a try and see if turning off any of those sounds in the option list helps.
(likely to be one of the top ones)

that would make sense as the BOOP comes from the box not the speakers and thus is prob the speaker connected directly to the MB
Good call

After I upgraded my rambell my laptop started doing the exact some thing, but only once at startup/login scree and only when my external soundcard is turned off. I'll have a squint for a new BIOS upgrade for my lappy, are they hard/tricky/down right dangerous beast to fuck around with or is it a case of download ==> run ==> restart

I'm scared
