Question Can you add designer fonts to an HTML website?

As you may guess, from my sig, I've been downloading fonts.

From here: Download fonts | dafont.com

I wonder if I can include a new font in my website somehow. Would that be possible, and how would I do it?

Nice one Mong.

I was talking to a lad who's designed a few websites the other day. Reminded me that I meant to learn css. Will move this up the to-do list.

Yes with image replacement.
It would have to be an image though - not possible with normal <p> etc. tags as the viewer would have to have that font installed on their computer.

I used an image to replace text for my e-mail Stylus. I figured it would cut down on spam, (might have, but hard to tell).

Are you saying that this CSS method Mong refers to won't work unless the font is on the viewer's comp?

It depends what css method he's referring to.
You could certainly use css to control the background image of a block level element, or style the inline <img> if you're using that.

Thinking on about this Stylus. -

Real fonts, stored on my webspace would be ideal, but if I can find a way to make a Gif with a transparent backround, then I wouldn't mind so much if I couldn't actually use text.

I think that gifs might suffer from pixelated edges tho, I guess there's no good way to blur the edges if it's transparent.

Not got any fancy Photoshop or Paintshop tho. I'll have a closer look at what I've got and scout for some freeware if necessary.
