when i put the game in for the first time though it froze up durring a cut scene.. been looking round the net a little and lots of people seem to have a problem with this (on xbox and ps3)

I saw my first bug at the weekend - spent a whole day playing it, and sometime in the afternoon all the scenery disappeared, and left Nico standing in space against a plain blue background. At some camera angles I saw various bits of furniture. Everything returned to normal after loading the game I'd just saved, though.

I just got through the mission where you have to save Roman from the Russians. Fook, these missions are getting hard!

haha, weird things do seem to be happening. i was playing a team death match online and my mate dissapeared through the ground, i could see his marker over his head but he was gone. i could just hear him shouting...shit! shit!..i'm in a black hole!
i do hope these bugs smooth out. i can under the odd probs with online multipayer but with solo play its annoying

ah ive experienced no such bugs, by the time theyre ironed out ull have clocked it and be onto bigger things anyway, just finish it n dw about glitches

yeh, thats sounds about right.
it froze up again yesterday, thats 3 maybe 4 times in total. seems to be when i start playing, it freezes about 5 minutes into play(when driving). so i restart the console and the game plays fine all day then. i dunno, maybe the game just needs a while to load or the console needs to warm up a bit...i dunno.
apparently rockstar are working on a patch

My old xbox started doing that just before the Three Red Lights Of DEATH. (Cue thunder and lightning effects).

It finally broke on Halo 3 launch day. I'm using an Elite now with no such problems.

ahh shit man, i hope i dont get the rings of death! it only did it on GTA (well so far). but i guess theres not much i can do about it until it actually happens is there. wonder if 'toys r us' will take it back and up grade it for an elite...probably not

...well i been doing some digging and according to the xbox site you get a 1 year warranty for general brake downs, and if you get the RROD, then you are covered for 3 years.
did you have a shop warranty or did microsoft replace your fooked xbox with no hastle?

Microsoft 'fixed' it. Whether that meant shipping me a new one or *actually* fixing it, I'm not sure. It took at least a couple of weeks to come back to me, though. If I hadn't decided to buy the Elite and give the fixed xbox to my brother when I finally got it back, I'd have gone spare.

If it only happens with GTA, it might not be the same issue for you, though.

Try some other CPU/graphics intensive game and see if that freezes too. It was happening quite a bit with Splinter Cell: DA on mine.

When mine froze, the screen went blank with random binary patterns all over it. Also, some of the time it showed the red lights, but a reboot got it working again. It was only on Halo3 day that reboots stopped working.

xbox had shit lasers in the earlier units, which, if u have one, theyll replace it with the new laser for free... alternatively, my mates have just turfed em n replaced with the vastly superior PS3...not a bad idea, MGS4s out in a couple of weeks
