Plasma vs. LCD

When I get home from Iraq I'll be treating myself to one or the other...Leading candidates at this point are:Sharp Aquos 46" LCDor Panasonic 42" PlasmaI'm not going to get into the difference of model numbers for each, just suffice it to say I'm aware, a bit anyway, and won't choose a crappy model number.I will be gaming a bit on the set, but nothing hard core.I like the extra 4" of the Sharp...but have read that the Panny just has a fantastic picture, rivaling the Pioneer plasmas.

For LCD i heard Samsung are the dogs.
Be careful with plasma mate. if you want to play ya pc through it i think you are better off with an LCD tv. LCD has caught up a lot recently.

Of course if ya just going for cinema stuff then plasma may suit.

Read some cnet reviews they are usually up to date.

Am chuffed to see ya alive and hopefully well

Thanks, bud. I'm doing well. Just finished our 10th month in Bagdhad...only a few more to go.Can't wait to get out of this dump, although the progress we have made is night and day. We are really doing some good things out here now. Violence is practically gone, and we were in one of the worst parts of Baghdad and all of Iraq: the Rashid district/Doura. Fighting was pretty bad in the spring...losing soldiers almost every day. It's now been over a month since my unit had a soldier killed. So...let's hope it stays that way.I'm really intrigued by the Aquos 46" LCD. I've read great reviews on cnet (of a smaller model, but same tv) and know that nowadays LCD can do a great picture. The problem is that I'm in Iraq and can't hop in the car and go down to Best Buy to check them out...I'll do that when I get back but I'm trying to learn as much as I can right now.How you been, mate?

To my eye, personally, it seems that plasma gives richer colour, and the lcd gives a slightly clearer less pixelated pic.
Personally I'd go LCD - it may last longer as well.

Stylus...good to see you still hanging around! How have you been? Put together any particularly sweet sets? Can't wait to get back and dive into the best deep house tracks of the past year! I don't even know what they are...will just have to do lots of listening.Anyway, to keep this slightly on topic...Does anyone know if the "burn in" or "image retention" is still a serious knock on the plasmas? That's one thing that pushes me towards LCD...However, the LCD doesn't seem to have as rich and vibrant colors, nor as deep of blacks.

Glad that the sister is ok. Are you still living in France? Been playing out at all? Thanks for the encouragement. There are lots of Soldiers here, US and UK, that are doing great things. I've had the chance to meet quite a few Brits and they have all been top blokes.
