The 500,000 GB MP3 Player

Quote:

Sounds impossible? It could really happen, thanks to a new breakthrough.
Can you even imagine an MP3 player with a 500,000 GB capacity? It’s pretty much beyond belief. The most generous player today can only hold around 40,000 songs – they’d hardly make a dent on this.
The thing is, it could easily happen. Scientists at the University of glasgow have created a nanotechnology breakthrough that could increase storage capacity by 150,000 times. It could mean 500,000 GB on a single chip and inch square.

I always wondered about this.. not totally on topic though. Say if you bought a 160GB ipod and stored the amount of songs on it Apple say you can store..40,000. Say if you actually purchased all of those through itunes...it would cost you far more than your ipod, at 79p per tune...something like £31000.

Something there is not right, especially with all the anti piracy shit built into itunes. Why build an ipod that can hold £31000 worth of tunes if you are serious about stopping piracy?

how have u always wondered about that its just ridiculous... apple doesnt want to stop piracy it wants to
1. sell more ipods
2. sell more itunes tracks

how can it do both? sell larger ipod?

sure they may not expect people to fill up 160GB with purchased tracks... but someone who buys atleast some of their tracks is probably likely to buy more if they have a 160GB ipod than if they have a 16GB ipod... thats not to say they will download illegal music, just that they will buy more legally.

Isn't the idea with the bigger ipods that you use it for video and audio?
