Before you sign make sure the track names are in the contract. IMO that and the dates need to be there in black and white. There also needs to be an opt out clause too if they don't deliver in a certain time period otherwise they could nothing with your track in the end and you cant go to another label with it until the term (normally fives years ) is over.

Ditto what Benny said. They may say that this is for the next 4 tunes, but that's not what the contract says m8. the contract signs away your rights (apart from royalties) for the music and your name/s.

I wouldn't sign that myself. But then there is so much more than the contract to consider... Who else is signed with them? How well are they doing? How are they promoting their artists? Are they promoting most/all of their artists? How are their sales? Do they get good gigs for their artists, or just sell tunes for them?

It's quite a new label, only one release (4tunes) out so far. 8th of August, I think.. I have no idea how well they are doing, probably not that well so far


What makes me wonder the most, is their other tunes are all house. definatley house. fuck knows what makes them think that my tunes will fit on that label?


Matey said that I'm all good to release on other labels, he won't mind that.

Don't be embarrassed mate at all, if they have the distribution it is not in their interests to fook up. To quickly clear that up, are they on Beatport? If you cant see the label there ask them who their distributor is.

As long as you can see the label listed in the dnb shops then all is good to go imo. I wouldn't let the first release put you off. I would however ask them how they envisage any live commitments and how that would work in a mix genre scenario
