Peeps who have sold all their shit/"given up" DJing

I'm giving serious consideration to just calling it a day. Haven't touched my decks for months (probably closer to a year really). They take up too much space. I could do with the cash. Anyone sold their stuff and regretted it? Anyone sold their stuff and not regretted it?

I'm thinking about getting some cheap shitty MP3 mixer thing, just so I can have a laugh or whatever when I want, but I'm just not that serious about mixing or dance music these days so it seems stupid to have all that equipment there...

There have been a few times when i have thought about it.... but then I just seem to get the buzz again! I really want to try and make a go of it (ie playing out regually), If that doesn't come off within a few years then I may well revoke my membership to "Clubber"

I felt the same as you and considered selling my stuff. things just werent working out as I wanted in terms of getting gigs and making decent enough tunes, and I was finding the music had moved in a direction that I wasnt into.

I havent touched the decks for months. been doing a little production work lately though as those ideas just keep popping into my head at randon moments.

Overall I found I just couldnt let it go, the musical flair lives on but ive minimised spending time and money on it.

(my website is half back online, hosted kindly by mandrick.)

Ive said that in the past, yet here I am. nothing has really changed from 7 years ago. The dreaded love / hate affair with music.

I have sold my decks in the past, to raise money to go travelling, I couldn't bring myself to sell my records though.

I ended up regretting it, and the first thing I did when I returned from my travels was save up and buy some new decks.

I guess it's a personal thing though, I do go through phases of thinking its all one big waste of time and money, but then on the other hand I rarely go more than a week or two without enjoying a cheeky mix.

If you really aren't that serious about it any more the selling up and buying a digital controller and using it to mess around with mp3s seems pretty sensible.
