needles

i have 2 ortofon concordes there both play fine but 1 of them just slides of after ive done a few mixes and fucks its up (dust i think) any way of checking for needle damage ive looked at them both and cant tell by eye

Probly need a good clean. Needles pick up dirt quicker when they're already dirty.

just buy a replacement needle and see if that makes it better. it not then you have a spare for when you need to replace one. nothing to lose.

they are not that expensive from hard to find records, which IMO is one of the cheaper places for some equipment. you may be able to find cheaper elsewhere though

pretty robust but shit like that isnt going to do them any good. Its possible that its been damaged at some point.

Yeah mate, sounds like what my CC-1s were doing before I had to buy a replacement needle.

If you do what Sproggy suggested, you'll probably find the needle tips is a bit darkened and in a sense - somewhat 'muddy.'

Replacement SHOULD do the job just right.

Check the stylus goes down straight and isnt bending to one side. If its bent it probs needs to be replaced (after trying to bend it the other way and possibly snapping it! )

only gone and lost the stylus. dug out the original carts and you can make out the needle on those unlike these carts. think i may need 2 new ones
