Monged Out Mix Competition - It's on!

Right then folks, just to let you all know that the mongedout.com mix competition is officially open!

In addition to the fame, kudos and red-hot street cred the winner will get Mong has kindly offered to donate a modest prize for the overall champ, with a second mystery prize on offer for the mix that gets voted as the most fun.

Comp Rules

1st Round

-Mixes must be 30 minutes or therabouts in duration.
-CDs, TTs or software is fine as long as the software is not doing the beat syncing for you. (no Ableton please!)
-Mixes to be encoded at 192 opr 224 kbps Mp3.
-Ensure you put who you are in the file title!
-Mixes are to be submitted to myself, please PM me for an e-mail addy to send them to.
-Deadline for mixes is 11:59pm UK time Sunday 10th August.

2nd Round

-Mixes to be no longer than 1 hour in duration.
-Deadline for mixes TBC.
-All other rules remain the same.

Winners will be decided by public polls.

If anyone has any questions about the rules please holla!

OK then ladies (?) and gents it's time to fire up those systems and wump out some tunes. Most importantly y'all, enjoy getting your mix on!

Will the DJs in the competetion judge the mixes, or will the judging be done by outside non-participants? I'm sure the mixes will be as confidential as they can be for voting purposes.

I'm looking forward to this...going to give me a good reason to dust off the decks!

For political reasons I wont enter but I will be happy to judge the mixes. I guess anyone involved with the comp will be responsible for judging everyone elses mix.

Following on from what was said about beatmatching. Me thinks this could be a good opportunity to break the same old dj competition scoring mold.

I don't want to step on anyones toes here. I just want to air my thoughts:

Proposed scoring system.

Categories to consider:

Creativity
Originality
Flow
Beat matching
Entertainment
Risks taken

A person would score an extra point for doing well in that category. 0 for ok and -1 for could be better
A plus 2 could be awarded for one category only if it was perfect

E.g Let's imagine I did an eclectic mix of tracks using beatport top ten music on a lappy

Originality: -1 (for playing top ten shit - no skill for digging)
Creativity: +2 (for mixing genres so well it was as if they were made for each other)
Flow: 0 (good change of energy but there was a small lapse with one track)
Beatmatching: -1 (You did it on a lappy)
Entertainment: +1 (Could see it rocking the dancefloor)
Risks: 0

Total: 1 (haha but ya get my drift

) All scores will be relative anyhow.

If I can get stickam to record my mix tonight Im entering tonight. Last time it gave me error:0, which isnt particularly helpful
