| Where's the rave to? | I'm going to start a new thread for this so the rules are on the first post. Hopefully we can then get rid of this thread. Not sure what went wrong with the colours, seems OK now on my screen. Was feeling a bit monged earlier due to an excessive cider drinking session last night, bit more with it now. ![]() Stab - Traktor is fine as long as you aren't using it to beatsnyc for you. Ableton wouldn't be as it does the beatsyncing business for you. Hope this clarifies things a bit..... ![]()

| Moooonged Out | yeah but it's up to me to be honest about using beatsync or not and the way I use traktor it's not possible for me to play a different way, well it is but it's a hassle. Lazy stoners generally will click a button rather than do it the old fashioned way. Going with traktor just got rid of the formality with beatmatching, freeing up my time to dick around with loops more. I'll do vinyl or something, I can't be trusted with these beat sync buttons (not that my traktor is any good at it anyway) |

| Manchester CityCentre Fan | I do think that it's fair to have a level playing field, but I don't see why there is a dilemma, unless it is that you can't do manual beatmatching on certain equipment. ![]() I would have thought it simpler just to summarise the rule as, you must do your own, manual beatmatching & blending, whatever you use. Or is there a problem with this that I don't get yet? |

| Moooonged Out | for me using software allows a far greater number of options when mixing, that's why I went over from vinyl. My 2p is this, make it open to anything mixing wise but make people be honest about it. Using ableton for example to make 4 songs blend seamlessly into each other over 30 minutes is hardly ground breaking. Using ableton to completely deconstruct something and remix everything in it LIVE is special, not that I can do it. The old way we judged these things was on beatmatching/creativity/tune selction and flow if I remember right. Therefore a software mix would (should really) score low on beatmatching but then if you're using it properly you should score higher for creativity. Or something like that ![]() |
