What's the worst book you ever tried to read?

I mean besides silly religious texts.

Personally, I spent a couple of arduous weeks trying to get through Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. Managed to get to around page 500 of 1000 (and fuck it's a small font too, must be 6 or 5 point) before I was forced to put it down in utter boredom and incredulity. It's about to be made a movie too, starring Angelina Jolie, fuck nose how they'll condense that tripe to 3 hours or less. Hope she gets her baps out though, might go and watch it.

A HP Lovecraft anthology I tried to read was pretty wank too.

How about you?

I was recommended Anne Rice's vampire books. I forced myself to get through Interview With A Vampire, and was told the others get better because they reveal more back-story. I didn't bother finishing Le Stat. It was just the same type of wank, except much longer.

As far as I can see, Anne Rice is Emo.

Actually, I never managed to read any of the LOTR books, they were boring as hell.

I used to like the Anne Rice books though, read them when I was younger. I picked one up recently and thought, "Wow, that's really turd!"

LOTR.

I read about 80% of it then wanted to drown myself through the boredom.

Yeah I read her book called The Witching Hour while i was travelling as it was the only book I could lay my hands on and I agree, it was well over 1000 pages of whinging rubbish.

I can't remember a thing that happened either. Utter gash imo.

I also have had to read Pamela, Virtue Rewarded by Samual Richardson as part of my uni course. I believe it may be the worst book ever written.

I love LotR. I've read it three times

Edit: And that was before the films came out.

I had to read Oliver Twist for English 'O' Level at school. Complete drivel. It's basically serialized soaps for middle-class housewives. I can't understand how Dickens got such a reputation if that's what all his books are like.
