How much of your time at work is spent actually working?

Recently I have been majorly busy. The only break I take is for lunch and I even skipped that yesterday. However i do have periods where I may have actually spend only tens minutes out of the whole day doing something.

What's it like for you?

Except for breaks, lunch, going to the loo and a few brief conversations when engineers call, or a call is being transferred from another department, all my time is spent working or on work related tasks.

It's nothing like the office work I used to do where I could slack for a bit & catch up later. Most of my time is spent in telephone conversations, any one of which could be monitored live and marked by management.

it varies a lot for me. recently its been busy so i get lunch time (40mins) and maybe a quick tea break in the morning (20mins), if shit hits the fan i may have to skip either my lunch or tea break. when its quiet tho we can get away with stretching lunch time out to an hour or so. and people might come into the workshop and we'll have a little natter for a bit. or i can slide off and get stuff like bread and milk or car tax...etc
..so it really depends how much work is on at the time

It's been real busy for me in the last six months or so. Hopefully it'll slacken off a little after the project I'm on finishes.

you've probably guessed that a lack of presence here from me is due to being at work... as most of mine is face to face with customers then i'm working most of the time, however, evening job gets quiet for periods so can sometimes chill for about an hour! (which out of a 15hr day suddenly doesnt sound that long...)
