dell customer service

wat a joke...
need replacement for the L, O and P keys on my laptop...
simple enough right?
submit it through the website, get a reply email and a phone call asking for my service tag number - fair enough i guess.

sent in the number and got a reply asking for the original owners name...as the computer wasnt bought by me, but my dad i figured this was reasonable - its possible a person with the same surname at the same address may be up to no good, better safe than sorry especially when 3 keys are at stake... anyway i did some surveillance and got the codename they wanted, sent it in and got a response saying theyd hand me over to technical support.

get an email from technical requesting the green light on 3 replacement keys. i gave them the all clear and today received another email saying that tomorrow, a technician will be calling me to organize an appointment for on-site replacement of the faulty keyboard...

right... ive emailed back saying wtf... i realise its a big organization but wtf...

compare this to antec, the manufacturers of my desktop case... i posted up on domain about them a while back - it went down something like this

i tripped over a usb cord id left lying on the ground and destroyed my front USB ports...emailed them telling them this, they emailed back asking for my details and i sent them... got a reply saying the parts were in the mail... similar deal when i broke the door and needed an entire front panel.

the amount of shit dells going through, you'd think i was asking for a whole new computer...3 god damn keys, L, P and O...wtf! ill take watever letters they have lying around if it means less fuss...its a joke. i reckon their products are great bang for buck, but if this is what i have to go through for 3 keys, i cant imagine wat id have to do if something actually fucked up

Dell is supposedly the best customer service you can possibly buy with your pocket. Maybe the rumors I've heard are untrue?
