Well, it's not radiacally different to the track it's inspired by. At least at this stage. Sounds nice, safe and tidy production. I'd like to hear some heavier agressive sounds in there myself. Plenty of stabs & percussive hooks.

And/or, try to find a 'pella of Voodoo Ray and go down the remix road, rather than the homage road.

I started with the bass and by just adding the drums (even though they were only meant to act as a click track) took me in this direction. It was only after a a few hours the penny dropped and I went hold a minute I checked voodoo ray and even though they have a smilar vibe the melodies are not even close so I can still claim it as an original work, though clearly heavily influenced by that scene and such works. FYI I think the later section sounds a bit like Boss Drum

I assure you that this track is not going to take a deep house or ambient route. I
want to do something different

I like the bassy, bumpy, jumpy, jiggly, yo-yo like bass sound you got in there Benny, not crazy about the old school synth but that's just my opinion. Should probably bring out the mids just ever so slightly, overall nice job dude

Thanx for listening. I have bumped up the mid range. Hope fully that is better. I've changed the synth you didn't like to see if the new sound sat better too.
