| Manchester CityCentre Fan | Reverb is not generally considered something you would add as part of the mastering process Mong. But if it works, use it. Really reverb is best added to individual sounds, or groups of sounds, during the production process. If you are going to add it on the whole track, I would use low and hi cut so that it doesn't affect the bass & Hi hats. |

| Mongster raving loony | i was on sound desk for some live stuff recently and finally decided to look into effects box. used a little reverb and bit of delay too on the vocals. it warmed up the sound nicely, havent played about with it on a production though. guy was using organ sound on keyboard, and i thought i'd see what that would sound like with those too... really filled out the sound, and was more like big organ rather than one running through speakers! bet the neighbours loved that! ![]()

| Frequency Specialist | I'm not to sure about that mastering reverb malarky. Ozone does it, but every time I try and use it it makes my tune sound terrible when played next to another tune. Probably a problem with my techniques rather than the malarky, though.

| Get monged out with mong | THanx guys. I understand the concept of using reverb on single tracks - i already do this but in the context of mastering i am with Tom, when i have tried (once or twice) to use it in Ozone it makes the track sound worse. I guess I am doing something wrong. Or dance tracks dont actually need it. Or it is for restory old recordings maybe?

| kickhatkickhatkickhatkick | I dont use reverb in the final stage("mastering") of my productions... If you cant get it right with using it on individual tracks then itś no idea in trying to fix a whole mix with one reverb...just my 89 cents.. i know ozone got the option but personally iŽd stay away from puting reverb on tracks after the mix.. unless itś a particular personal sound you are trying to achieve ![]() |

| Super Mongerator | I have used a very short reverb on the master output of one of my current work in progress tracks. I have to say it makes the tune sound a whole lot better, much more pro. It definately takes that electronic edge off the sound. I will definately be doing this to all my tunes in the future. But, I have only been able to do this because the reverb plugin is very good quality. It has built in pre-reverb filtering. I have set it so that only the mids and highs are reverbed, the lower end of the frequency range isnt and that is what makes all the difference. Tight bass with slightly warmed midrange and highs. Without the ability to filter, it doesnt work at all (ive tried in the past). You dont want the low end being reverbed as it will loose clairty and sound really muddy. btw - I do believe pro's add a small amount of reverb during the mastering stage. Im guessing they use simialr tools that dont reverb the bass

| Get monged out with mong | I think there's a filter for it on Izotope. I will give it a go. I guess I must have applied to the whole frequency range before when I experimented with it.. Thanx again all.
