Here is a link to my latest track, an extremely dark piece of music. I'm really interested in putting some visuals to it - anybody fancy taking on that challenge? It's a very cinematic track, just desperate to fit it in with some imagery...

Good noises, but I wouldn't really call it music.

It defo needs some muffled screams/explosions/bangs/etc.

It would certainly make a good soundscape for a tune, tho.

Fair comments!

This music is deliberately minimal though. Most ambient music I'm into is just like this. If you listen to it a few times, its subtle charm shines through.
Would be nice to hear a remix of it though...some techno/break-beats etc...

You really should put your artist name in the file name.

Downloading...

Edit: I mirror pretty much what Tom said.

Ends a bit abruptly mind and has no real structure though. You should check out some of Tangerine Dreams 60's releases.

I know about the abrupt ending - that's deliberately there to test whether people have actually listened to it in its entirety or not!!

As regarding structure, there is none. Lots of ambient music is completely free from structure, just edging along with no real purpose. It really does deviate from the classic ternary form most music adopts. Deliberately.

Tangerine Dream are excellent - got lots of their stuff. Amongst my favourite would be 'Sequent C'.

Some other artists I'm keen on:
Datura 1.0
Diatonis
Mystified
Oophoi
Robert Rich
Steve Roach
Vidna Obmana

I dunno if you should test people, if they dont like it they wont listen to it in its entirety. Why should they? I haven't seen whether you comment on peoples work here so I can't judge if you do or not.

Yeah i've got over 30 albums of TDs work. I stopped buying their stuff after 86/87 when they went shit. Seen them live a couple of times too.

Touche, fair enough. I haven't commented on much work on this forum as I've only just signed up. Used to on the old myclubbingspace website though.

I'm always wary of posting productions in forums as there are many different ways of judging it. If some people are not familiar with the genre/know little about it, they will dismiss it. Like in this instance, I have been told my track lacks structure. Which is of course an opinion people are entitled to. But if you were to listen to some of the dark ambient I've been getting into of late, you would see that the whole dark ambient/experimental genre is just like this. That's where I've got my inspiration from...
If someone doesn't LIKE dark ambient music, then again there's no reason for me to get narky - it's just not their cup of tea.
For instance, if someone has immersed themselves in Hard House over the last 15 years, and makes it to a decent standard, that doesn't make them an expert in the field of producing ambient/experimental/noise tracks...?
On another forum, someone said that the track isn't music. Which to them, it perhaps isn't. But to my ears, it is!

So then we reach the argument of opinion. There is no right or wrong opinion, so an argument will escalate for all eternity...

Ah poo when I said I agreed with Tom I meant the good stuff only i.e. it would make a good sound track I agree what you wrote is music and dont dispute that. Sorry I should have made that clear.

TD has an album/ track that last twenty minutes and to the untrained sounds like one of the notes doesn't change for most of it.

FY i can comment on music I like or dislike. I try to keep objective and an open mind.

Was thinking the same thing! Thought nice dark dnb mix would be nice... Only listened to it once so far, but would be interested to hear more. Wouldnt normally listen to much ambient but will try to check out a couple of those names mentioned as i could get more into the dark stuff!

Okay thanks mate, I do agree that it's perhaps a bit silly to 'test people' because as you say, why should they listen to it!

I've had some developments - I met a guy in the pub the other day who is into animation/film making and he's keen to get cracking on doing some visuals to the music.
Also, I'm busy working on a big project in making some more of this ambient dark ambient stuff. I've alread completed one 15 minute track; I'll post some links when I'm happy with it all.

I would like to see some more dance-orientated remixes of my ambient stuff at some point. When I make ambient, there are no beats/or much rhythmn either so it means I can devote full attention to the melody. I think this is why my dance stuff is no where near as good, because I don't spend enough time getting everything right. I might post some links to it soon to see if anyone can give me any pointers on how to improve them.
