Hip Hoose

I've begun re working Hip Hoose starting with the melody, here is a snippet:
(video/music updated)

My key issue with the track is that it's a little too prissy - me needs some quality bread and butter deep house sounds - any VSTi suggestions appreciated - money sort of no object.

Nice work Mong. I dunno if it's because it's a video, and the sound is not too good, but the metallic snare sound and much of the percussion from the earlier version seems to be lost. I do like the extra melodic elements in this rework tho.

Thank you for the kind words. I haven't ported the old drum track in yet as that metal snare you mentioned drove me nuts haha. I have worked on it separately but I am not too sure if it works with the instruments now.

Thanx mang - besides a few tweaks i am really happy with the chorus and breakdown and tbh that is where i have spent most of my energy up to now.

Decided the prissy stuff was down to the delay in one / two of the leeds sounds and i decided to bring a sound (which was swamped before into the foreground when the money shot comes in Sounds more housey than wussy now

The you tube video has been updated now.

very nice mate.
i like the deep kick and percussions.

maybe not to make the snare so wet, and less crisp on the e-piano if you wanna go deeper?

have you tried Rob Papen's synths? I'm in love with Albino. Blue is nice too.

Thanx for the tips. "E-piano", is that the sound that comes in on the video at the 31 second mark? When you say crisp do you mean the attack or something else?

Er and how do I unwet the snare, not too sure what ya mean? The drums will be replaced me thinks anyhow as they were only there to just act like a metronome whilst I work on the melody

BTW I know Albino, havent tried blue though.

Wet just means with effects Mong. Try reducing the effect send or the wet/dry balance.

Thanx fella. I should have been specific as i know what what wet/dry is effects wise - I'd be fooked if I didnt haha.

The snare is sampled and I am using no effects on it only eqs. I guess he is suggesting that I change the reverb of the snare and make it tighter i.e. a smaller room but I am only guessing thats what he meant

Ahh I see. If the effects are on the sample, but you really like the sample, try applying a gate to it.
