Harry Salsava 'Hindsight'

Hi!

Been working on 'Hindsight' since the start of 2008, and it's finally starting to take form. Sure, there's still the odd couple of rough edges, but I'd like to think this is my strongest House production to date.

Themed around my undying passion for deep House music, think:
Francois K, Demarkus Lewis, HippE, JT Donaldson, Fred Everything, Miguel Migs
Please take time to check it out and let me know what you think:

Sounds pretty good to me. Definatelty appreciating the vibe.

I feel you need to evolve the stab and synth sounds a bit, as they kind of wear a little bit thin after a while.

also, the vocal sample, and one of the stab sounds distort in places, sounds like over driven channels to me rather than intentional. Are you running the channels hard?

Im not sure about the kick either, its a bit of an older school sounding techno kick. for this kind of track I think a less thumpy / distorted one would sound better.

otherwise, good work. Most definately liking it.

I agree with Damian about the kick. Wrong one for that style.

It might be me, but is there a new note introduced to the chord at 5 mins 33 seconds? Could be used much earlier to introduce some variety. If I'm right, it's very subtle, but subtle things is what this style is about.

Definitely needs more work to build a strong structure, but definitely worth it. Sounds great so far.

Also, I would try some gating in there on synths, drums or both. Make a little more space in the sound.

Impressive stuff tho Harry.

Thanks kindly for the feedback gents; much appreciated!

The vocal is a dodgy recording really, it's a sample off youtube and so there's a degree of distortion. I tried to iron it out, but it's still evident. I just liked it! But perhaps if I experiment with some more synths I can negate the need for it.
The kick is an old-school techno drum sound; well spotted. I'll have another listen tomorrow ('tis late) and I'll see if I agree that something different is needed.
I think also, that it hasn't been arranged quite well enough. I'll have to have a play around and see if I can get everything where it should be.
One final thing, this recording isn't the best quality as it was produced on full volume in my interface and so I had to normalize it in exporting as an mp3. This means that there will be a degree of distortion in the mp3 version I posted here. Not an excuse of course...just it might have affected the quality a bit.

I shall begin taking these critics on-board and seeing if I can alter the track to achieve the best sound. Might take some time to complete though; been working on this track for a couple of months! Just been so busy and struggle to find time to work on it. I'm in it for the long-haul though. Would like to get track finished eventually and post a decent quality mp3 of it for all to download and use at their leisure.

Oh, one more thing - technical fault benny? How do you mean?

I am guessing you got a problem with the reply to button on other people threads. Especially the ones asking for critics of tracks.

Tip: Don't be selfish. Give back to the scene. Please return the compliment and review other peoples tracks.

When I have the time, I most certainly will!!??

Just at the minute, I have a lot going on and struggle to find time to get on the computer!!! I can't monitor the forums every spare second I have I'm afraid, as much as I used to enjoy doing it! I've changed jobs now, and unfortunately I have to devote the little bit of spare time to my productions.

I will try my best to check a few threads out when I get chance, but apologies if I can't always do so...
