First track in Live 7

This is a little track I've been working on in Live 7. Still incomplete but would love to hear what you guys think.
Soulophonic - Seven

The melody kicks in after 3:00.
Sorry for the sharp ending.
Haven't yet decided on how it should progress.

Musically the track is too commercial for my tastes however there are a lot of elements in there which I think would be quite popular. I like how you have done the breakdown and introduced elements. Wish I knew how to do some of the tricks you did there Difficult to comment on the sounds just yet as I am listening through really bad ear plugs at work. I would like to hear how the main arp would sound an octave lower at the beginning.

Keep it up mate - good work. For this kind of music it really needs a vocal.

thank you Mong... really appreciate it!

I agree there's quite a bit of cheese there, I blame the chord progression and sidechaining . Most of the elements used were to sound nice but not necessary different.

You're right, I do need some vocal. I've got some idea but not quite happy yet.

cheers mate.

That's a nice little commercial production there m8.

Something like that does need a vocal, for sure. It's a very cliche'd progression, so it would need something very special to make it hit worthy. But you could easily get something appealing going on there, if you've got the inspiration.

thanks sproggy.
it certainly needs something special.
was just supposed to be a take 5 project but it has grown on me.
need to seriously think about the vocal.

commercial is such a dirty word.

Not in my opinion m8. Most of us wish we could make a living out of DJing or producing.

Smile final mix (?)

so I've added some vocals and made some changes
the first arp does sound better an octave lower - thanks mong!

Soulophonic - Seven

May leave it as that. I'm sick of this track already lol.
Happy NY mongers!

Much better. Try to make it shorter and your nearly there. Also feel the hats need a bit more bite too them. i.e. add something witha sharper attack.

Am jealous about how you use effects. I couldnt twiddle a nob if my life depended on it
